What if being close to God is worth more than all the comfort the world offers?

Proximity Matters

"Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked."

— Psalm 84:10 84:10

One day with God hits different than a thousand days chasing what the world calls success. Psalm 84:10 says it plainly: one day in His courts is better than a thousand anywhere else. That is not poetry for poetry's sake. That is a value statement. A priority reset. A reminder that proximity to God is not a bonus feature of the Christian life. It is the whole point. We hustle for promotions, comfort, and status, and those things are not bad. But none of them satisfy the way His presence does. Nothing the world offers can replicate what it feels like to just be near Him. This Monday, before the week picks up speed, ask yourself where you are positioning yourself. Are you close? Are you leaning in? Or have you drifted toward the tents of the wicked, chasing comfort that never quite delivers? Closeness to God is always worth the trade. What would you give up today to stay closer to Him?
