Bold Truth

If your faith never makes you uncomfortable, you might be following a gospel you invented.

Comfortable Theology

"For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear."

— 2 Timothy 4:3

If your faith never makes you uncomfortable, you might be following a gospel you invented. That's the warning Paul gave Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:3. He said the day would come when people would reject sound doctrine and surround themselves with voices that only tell them what they want to hear. Sound familiar? We live in an age where you can curate your theology like a playlist. Skip the songs that challenge you. Repeat the ones that soothe you. But the gospel was never meant to be a comfort playlist. It was meant to transform you. And transformation requires confrontation. The hard teachings of Jesus, forgiveness, surrender, self-denial, loving your enemies, these aren't optional add-ons. They are the gospel. If your faith only ever affirms you but never convicts you, it might be time to ask: whose voice are you really listening to? 🤍 What part of scripture have you been avoiding because it challenges you?
